01 Who we are

This policy explains how Faulkner Butchery ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses your personal data when you visit our shop, use our website, or use our mobile app. Faulkner Butchery is a business name of Gary Faulkner, a sole trader based at Unit 2, Newgrange Mall, Slane, Co. Meath, C15 F78P.

We are the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us about any privacy matter at support@faulknerbutchery.com or on +353 85 202 2211.

We process personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

02 The personal data we collect

Information you give us

  • Orders & collection: your name, phone number, email address, and the items you order for collection in store.
  • Account details: if you create an account in our app, the details you provide and your saved preferences or favourites.
  • Enquiries: anything you tell us when you contact us by phone, email, or social media.
  • Notification preferences: whether you've chosen to receive offers and updates from us by push notification.

Information we collect automatically

  • App usage & device data: how you use our app, your device type and operating system, and basic diagnostic data that helps us fix problems.
  • Push notifications: a device token that lets us send the notifications you've agreed to.

Payment details. When you pay through the app, your card details are handled directly by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — we only receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the last four digits.

03 How and why we use your data

We only use your personal data where the law allows. The table below sets out what we do and our lawful basis under Article 6 of the GDPR.

Taking, preparing and fulfilling your orders for collection, and managing your accountPerformance of a contract
Answering your enquiries and providing customer serviceOur legitimate interests (and steps taken at your request before any contract)
Operating, securing, maintaining and improving our appOur legitimate interests in running our business safely and well

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we make sure your rights and interests are not overridden. You can object to this processing at any time (see section 9).

04 Cookies

Our website does not currently use cookies or any analytics or tracking technologies. It simply provides information about us and links to download our app.

If we introduce cookies or analytics in future, we will update this policy and, in line with the Irish ePrivacy Regulations, ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.

05 Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with trusted organisations that help us run our business, and only as far as needed:

  • Our app and hosting provider, who builds and operates our app and the cloud services behind it on our behalf, including delivering the notifications you've opted into.
  • Stripe, who securely handles card payments.
  • Apple and Google, who distribute our app and deliver push notifications.
  • Professional advisers and public authorities, where we are required to share information by law.

These organisations may only use your data on our instructions and must keep it secure.

06 International transfers

Some of the providers above may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place — such as an EU adequacy decision for the country concerned, or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses — so that your data continues to receive an equivalent level of protection.

07 How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out above:

  • Order and transaction records are kept for six years, as required by Irish tax and accounting law.
  • Account data is kept while your account is active; if you close it, we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, save for anything we must retain by law.
  • Notification preferences are kept until you turn notifications off or withdraw your consent.

08 Keeping your data secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Card payments are handled by Stripe, which meets recognised payment-security standards, and access to your data within our business is limited to those who need it.

09 Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • request access to the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to erase your data in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format (data portability);
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to direct marketing at any time; and
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@faulknerbutchery.com. We will respond within one month. Exercising your rights is free, and we will never treat you differently for doing so.

10 Children

Our website and app are intended for adults and are not directed at children. In Ireland, the digital age of consent is 16; we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16 without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will remove it.

11 Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date above and, where the changes are significant, let you know by a notice on our site or app.
